ASSOCIATION GAME
OPENING OF THE SEASON HOME-AND-AWAY MATCHES Arrangements for the opening of the season at Blandford Park were discussed by the control board of the Auckland Football Association at its meeting last evening. The chairman, Mr. L. Munro, reported that a band would be in attendance and that the Old Boys' Association would be assisting in making the day a memorable one. It was agreed that the main attraction between Ponsonby and Thistle should start at 3.15 p.m. Mr. ,T. C. Sibbin reported that it would be impossible to stage home-and-away fixtures for clubs with home grounds, with any degree of routine owing to the scarcity of grounds and the need for early matches. However, clubs could rest assured that they would be given as fair a proportion of games at home as was possible. He also recommended that-the second division should play one round and then be divided into two sections, the top one to play one round to decide the championship, while the lower, including the four teams in the third division, would also play a round for a trophy. This report was deferred until the next meeting of the board. The secretary stated that there were many transfers which had not yet been forwarded and also several which were not in order. It was agreed that the emergency committee would deal with all transfers received prior to the opening games; and that any club playing men • not transferred would be dealt with in accordance- with the rules. The following transfers were approved:— G. S. Bodman, Thistle to Ponsonby; A. Hitchen, Onehunga to Eastern Suburbs: R. Welch, Thistle to Eastern Suburbs; G. Sale, Thistle to Eastern Suburbs; O. Krause, Thistle to Eastern Suburbs; B. Dickey. Thistle to Eastern Subrbs.
