25 YEARS GOLD STAR TE AROHA AWARDS [from our own' correspondent] TE AROHA, Tuesday A gold star for 25 years' service was presented to Mr. J. Walsh, deputysuperintendent of the To Aroha volunteer fire brigade, at a social attended by some 200 firemen and visitors, including representatives of the Hamilton, Thames, Cambridge, Tauranga, Morrinsville, Wailii, Paeroa, Matamata, Whakatane and Auckland brigades. . The Mayor of Te Aroha, Mr. R. Coulter, M.P., "who is chairman of the Fire Board, presided, and on behalf of the citizens of Te Aroha presented Mr. Walsh with an oak chiming clock: The presentation of the star was made by the Hon. B. C. Bobbins, M.L.C., of Tauranga. The following service bars and awards were also made: —F. Bath, 17 years' service; K. Watson. 15 years; F. Goldsbury, 13 years; H. Manning, 11 years; A. Gemmell, nine years; A. Whatford, seven years; F. Mulgrew, five years; J. Neil, three years. - " Mr. 11. L. Somers, who was Mayor of Te Aroha when the Fire Board was formed, and who held the position of chairman of the board for 16 years, was made an honorary life member of the brigade, and was presented with the brigade's medal by the superintendent, Mr. P. Pilkington.
