AIRCRAFT INSPECTOR
EXPERIENCE ABROAD ENGLAND AND AMERICA [BY TELEGRAPH FHESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Tuesday The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, announced to-day that Mr. R. C. Kean, chief inspector of aircraft, would proceed to England for attachment to the Department of Civil Aviation at the Air Ministry, and would later spend a short time in the United States. Mr. Kean would be relieved by a senior officer from the Air Ministry.
Mr. J£ean was a member of the designing staff of the Public Works Department before his appointment in January, 1936, as the first aircraft inspector to the civil aviation branch of the Defence Department. He was a member of the Royal Air Force during the Great War, at the close of which he held the rank of captain. Later he was an instructor in England and became widely known as a pilot and engine expert.
