AWAKINO POINT BRIDGE
USE BY LIGHT TRAFFIC FURTHER WORK IN PROGRESS [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] DARGAYILLE, Saturday The work of temporarily repairing the Awakino Point Bridge on the Dar-gaville-Whangarei highway,' which collapsed on Tuesday morniDg under the weight of two motor-trucks, has sufficiently far advanced to allow the structure to be opened for light traffic. Further work is being carried out to make the bridge available for heavy traffic as soon as possible.
Boring to ascertain the depth required for the foundations' on the site for the new bridge at Awakino Point is being carried out bv employees of the Public Works Department. It will be some time, however, before the construction of the new bridge is begun.
