A- VERY QUIET MORNING Only three snles worn recorded on the Auckland Stock Kxehange at the call on Saturday morning and 110 improvement was shown in the general tone of the market. Gilt-edged securities again were in strong domain at late rates.

Banks were inclined to bo a shade firmer with New Zealand* steady on sale and offers of Nationals of NewZealand (3d higher. Buyers for Commercials of Australia and Unions also were a shade stronger. Quotations for insurances were about the same, although offers for South British were slightly lower.

AYestiHHt Coals were steady on sale, and slight I v better offers w ere made for Wesiport-Stockton preference. Other classified sections showed little change. Dominion Breweries were in demand at a slight advance, but none were available. Holders of Now Zoalands, however, reduced their limits by

9d. Sellers predominated in the miscellaneous section. Offers for Broken Hill Proprietary again eased. Holders of AVoohvorths (Sydney) reduced their limits a shade in view of firmer support and the New Zealand issue was unchanged. Holders of G. J. Coles were a shade weaker.

GOLD AND SILVER QUOTATIONS IN LONDON (Received, April 10, 0.30 p.m.) LONDON, April f> Fine gold was quoted to-day and yesterday at £7 Os ljd an ounce, compared with £7 Os on Thursday. Silver is' quoted at lß.td an ounce spot, and ]R 7-16 d forward, compared with 10(1 and 18 7-16 d yesterday.
