RAILWAY CHANGES

MR. WOODGER PROMOTED WELLINGTON TRAFFIC MANAGER The promotion of Mr. W. A. Woodger, assistant traffic manager of railways in Auckland, to the position of district traffic manager in Wellington has been announced. During his 38 years of service with the department Mr. Woodger has filled various positions in the service in the North Island. Some 14 years ago he came to Auckland as chief train running officer and for the past five years has been assistant traffic manager. He will take up his new duties in about a fortnight. Mr. Woodger was amateur sprint champion of New Zealand and of Australia. The latter title he won in 1909 at Brisbane. He was also sprint representative in the New Zealand athletic team to the British Empire Games at London in 1911. The position vacated by Mr. Woodger will be filled by Mr. J. Sawyer, at present junior assistant traffic manager. Mr. C. A. Legge, stationmaster at C'hristchurch, has been appointed to the latter office.
