EXTENSION OF WORK STEADY PROGRESS MADE MEETINGS OF BRANCHES The election of officers at the annual meeting of the Huntly-Glen AftonPukemiro sub-branch of the Plunket Society held at Huntly recently resulted: —President, Mrs. T. Brocklebank; vice-president, Mrs. W. Bullough; secretary, Mrs. H. P. Honnor; treasurer, Mrs. W. C. E. George; committee, Mesdames K. S. Caldwell, D. C. Low, P. Crimmins, A. Pascoe, E. V. Daldy, R. Gardner, T. Chisholm, J. J. Turner (Huntly), Thomas, J. Dunn, Pears, Johnson, Lawson, Leeniing, Blackburn, Troughear, Hillier (Glen Afton-Pukemiro).
The report stated that the total number of visits to the rooms during the year was 3352, adults, 1606; babies, 1519; older children, 227. Visits to homes totalled 20, and the nurse's visits to the rooms numbered 49. New cases to visit the rooms totalled 62. The number of visits to the rooms had increased to such an extent that the nurse has had to attend on one and ahalf days recently instead of one day in the week. It was decided to endeavour to get the nurse to attend on two days a week in the future. As a mark of respect to the late Sir Truby King, and to the late Miss N. Pattrick, director of Plunket nursing, all present stood in silence for a moment.
Papakura sub-branch. —The annual meeting of the Papakura sub-branch of the Franklin Plunket Society was held recently. The president, Mrs. J. F. Johnstone, presided. Nurse Tinkham's report showed that 1000 children and babies had been attended during the year. A very successful photograph competition, organised to augment the funds of the proposed Papakura Plunket and rest room, realised £152 Is 8d which was handed over to the Papakura Plunket- and rest room building fund committee. It was further stated that the annual garden party held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Grut had realised £l7 3s 4d. The following officers were elected: — President, Mrs. J. F. Johnstone, vicepresidents, Mrs. C. C. Munro (Clevedon), Mrs. E. A. Urquhart (Karaka); committee, Mrs. A. B. Carpenter, Mrs. T. McLennan, Mrs. G. W. Lock, Mrs. C. Burgess, Mrs. G. C. Hobson, Mrs. T. Walker, Mrs. J. Wishart, Mrs. G. C. Wardell (Opahoke), Mrs. W. S. McJlraith, Mrs. .J. L. Munro, Mrs. R. Grant, Mrs. H. Droadon (Opaheke), Mrs. It. H. Lever, Mrs. J. Jarvie, Mrs. H. Tennent, Mrs A. McNeish, Mrs. H. E. McEntee. Mrs. Slade-Gully (Karaka), Mn. W. K. Francis, junior, Mrs. J. A. Paterson (Opaheke); honorary secretary, Mrs. B. C. Carpenter. Reference was made by the president to the loss sustained by the society in tho deaths of Sir Truby King and Miss N. Pattrick.
