POSTAL FACILITIES
TE AWAMUTU BUILDING REMODELLING COSTS £14,000 [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] TE AWAMUTU, Saturday Reconstructed and remodelled at a cost of £I4OO, the Te Awamutu Post Office was officially opened yesterday by Mr. W. J. Broarlfoot, M.P., in the presence of local and public body representatives and a large assembly of the public; Speakers at the ceremony included'the Mayor of Te Awamutu, Mr. G. Spinley, the chairman of the Waipa County Mr. S. C. Macky, and the chief postmaster at Hamilton, Mr. W. P. Aldridge.
Mr. Spinley, who presided, said that the new post office was a distinct tribute to the rapid growth and increasing importance of the town and district.
Mr. Macky described the ceremony »s a milestone in the history of the borough. Mr. Aldridge congratulated the people of Te Awamtitu on obtaining men a magnificent building after many years of waiting. Mr. Broadfoot, in declaring the post office officially open, congratulated the architect and the contractors on their faithful job, which had resulted in wore comfortable conditions for the staff and better service for the public.
