MINERAL BATHS
PROVISION At TAUPO APPROXIMATE COST OF £12,000 [BY TELEGRAI'H—owx correspondent] TAUPO, Friday Plans for the construction of new mineral baths at 'laupo at a cost of approximately £12,000 are now being considered. A site on the corner " at the north end of the main street is considered the most suitable.
Surveyors of the Public Works Department have just finished boring for the foundations, which have proved satisfactory. Although the final plans have not yet been decided on, it is proposed to erect a modern and up-to-dato building in which will be a standard size swimming pool with a depth of 9ft. at tho deep end. Tho mineral water to bo used will bo drawn from what is known as the Kathleen Spring, 1 near the present A.C. bath, from where it will be piped to the new riito.
It has not been decided yet whether the Public Works Department will build the baths or whether the work will be done by contract, but in either case it is intended to have them completed at the earliest possible date.-
