Studio Places Ban on Actors' Agency

DEMANDS OPPOSED Another Hollywood feud is on. This one is between 20th. Century-Fox chief Joseph Schenck . and actor's agent Myron Selznick. Following Selzniek's efi'ort to obtain a big salary jump for his client Loretta Young, Schenck has banned the Selznick agency from doing business at his studio. it is one of the biggest agencies in the business and is said to have handled £3,500,000 worth of business a year. Formerly Warners, Fox, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer all banned various agencies at various times when they considered their demands exorbitant. Now there are plenty of other studios ready to follow 20th. Century-Fox's lead in standing np to the agencies. It is quite a delicate matter. Actors ni'ist rely on agents to protect their interests at the studios. If the studios refuse to cross swords it leaves the actors in a quandary.
