OVERCAST AND HUMID SCATTERED RAINS The weather report and forecast for New Zealand issued by the Government meteorologist last evening were as follows: —Pressure is rather high but very uniform over the Dominion. Aii anticyclone is centred over south-eastern Australia and extends on to the South Tasinan, but pressure is rather low and conditions are disturbed north of the Tasman. The forecast is for light to moderate and variable winds with northeasterlies predominating in th<* northern half of tho North Island. Seas slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: South-east to easterly winds predominating, moderate to strong in the northern portion with ra oher rough seas, light to moderate in the central and southern portions with slight to moderate seas. Tho weather for the most part is likely to be cloudy to overcast, mild and humid with mist or fog in places. Scattered rains aro probable in most districts. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST OVERCAST AND SHOWERY The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Light to fresh north-east-erly winds.predominating. The weather is likely to be mainly cloudy to overcast with scattered rains. Temperatures still mild. Seas rather rough on parts of the east coast, otherwise slight to moderate. I YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Generally fine conditions were experienced, in .Auckland yesterday and there was a moderate northeast breeze. The maximum temperature was 76 degrees and the minimum (56 degrees. The barometer was high and showed a rising tendency during the night.

Wellington.—After heavy rain on Thursday night a light drizzle continued throughout most of the morning, but ceased at mid-day. At the same , time the breeze, which had been bldwing from the south-east, tumejJ to the north-east. The sky was- overcast throughout and the atmosphere was thick with cloud, often very low. Temperatures remained mild. The minimum on Thursday night was 56.2 degrees and the maximum yesterday 61 degrees. At 3.30 p.m. the barometer reading was 30.095 in.

Christehurch. —The day was fine with a dull sky and a north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 61.5 degrees. The barometer registered 30.06 in. and was steady at 5 p.m. Dunedin.—The weather was fine but overcast. The maximum temperature was 62 degrees. There was no wind and the barometer fell to 30.18 in.
