GENERAL ELECTION
INVEECABGILL SEAT THE NATIONAL. CANDIDATE MR. F. G. HALL-JONES CHOSEN It is announced that Mr. F. G. HallJones, barrister and solicitor, has been selected as the National Party candidate for Jnvercargill at the forthcoming general election. Born at Timarn, Mr. Hall-Jones, who is immediate past district governor of Rotary in New Zealand, received his early educatiou at the Timaru South and Timarn High Schools, and later graduated B.A. and LL.B. at Victoria University College. He also won the college athletic championship and the Joynt Scroll for debating. Mr. Hall-Jones enlisted shortly after the outbreak of war, and was among the first New Zealanders to land on Gallipoli.
Mr. Hall-Jones is a son of the late Sir William Hall-Jones, who in the course of a political career of 45 years was both Premier and High Commissioner for New Zealand in London. The activities of Mr. Hall-Jones have been spread over a wide field, and at Irivercargill he has been president and chairman of many organisations. He has also taken part in civic and educational affairs, and is a metropolitan commissioner of the Boy Scouts' Association.
