NORTHCOTE CONTESTS PRIMARY COMPETITIONS SUCCESS OF BIRKENHEAD The sixth annual combined sports meeting of the Birkenhead, Northcote, Glenfield,' Greeiiliithe, Birkdale and Albany primary schools associated with the Northcote District High School was held on the High School grounds yesterday. Tbpre was a large attendance of parents. Excellent weather conditions prevailed and the gathering was very successful.

Owing to the largo number of competitors, numerous heats, ranging up to 12, were necessary in many competitions. In order that the larger schools should not derive advantage by ability to prbvide .more competitors, tho points were awarded on a scale basis, in keeping with the roll numbers of the respective schools. Birkenhead secured first place in the boys'. division, and Birkdale was first in the girls' section. The aggregate points scored were as follows:—Birkenhead, 155%; Birkdale, 124; Norihcote, 123%; Glenfield, 108; Albany v 01); Grecnhithe, 59%. . . Friday Fine weather favoured the annual athletic sports meeting for girls of the Hamilton High School held at the school grounds to-day, when there was a large attendance of parents and friends. Tho senior championship resulted in a win for V. Reekie, who scored 23 points, one more than V. Clephane. There was a tie for third place between L. Robinson and H. Hutt, who both scored nine points. Tho junior championship was captured by Z. Simpson, 21 points, J. Graham, 10 points being second, and K. Brown, 10 points, third.
