CHAIRMANSHIP OF BOARD LORD CRAIGMYLE RESIGNS (Received March 31, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, March 30 Lonl Craigmyle has resigned the chairmanship of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company on medical advice, but he retains his seat on the board of directors. Sir William Currie becomes chairman, Mr. 0. A. Lang, deputy-chair-man, and Sir Daniel Hamilton a managing director.
Lord Craigmyle, formerly the Hon. Alexander Shaw, was cha.irman and managing director of ; both tho P. and O. Company and the British India Steam Navigation Company, and ho is also a director of this Bank of England. Sir William Currie, who succeeds! him, has beiDii deputy-chairman and managing
director of the two companies since 1932. Ho spent many years in India, and was Sheriff of Calcutta in 192122., president of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and of the Associated Chambers of India, Burma and Ceylon in 1924-25. Ho was a member of the Bengal Legislative Council for four years, and for one year a member of the Council of State. He was president of tho Chamber of Shipping of the United Kingdom in 1929. Mr. Archibald Orr Lang is at present a managing director of the P. and O. ,nnd British India Companies, and formerly was in business in China as a partner in MacKinnon, MacKenzie and Company. Sir Daniel MacKinnon Hamilton was formerly a partner in MacKinnon, MacKenzio and Company, Calcutta.
