HARSH MEASURES

POLISH CITIZENS JEWS ABROAD LOSE RIGHTS MONEY DEALERS ARRESTED By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received March 27, 5.5 p.m.) Times Cable LONDON, March 26 The Polish Diet has passed measures empowering the Minister of the Interior to deprive citizens of all rights if they stay abroad for five years, says the Warsaw correspondent of the Times. The bill is described as being necessary, as no other legislation can deprive of citizenship the thousands of Poles abroad who have adopted a passive or indifferent attitude toward their country, or who are wanted for political or criminal reasons or for evading military service.

Jews are not specifically mentioned, but there is no doubt that tho first to suffer will be the thousands of Polish Jews in Austria, Czechoslovakia, Danzig, Germany and Rumania. All those abroad who have taken "an active positive attitude" toward Poland will continue to receive protection from the State.

A Jewish spokesman declares that Jews all over Poland will refuse to touch meat if the Government permits the enactment of a bill for the complete abolition of ritual slaughter, says tho Warsaw correspondent of tho Daily Telegraph. He adds that this would paralyse the meat trade throughout the country. The measure still requires the approval of the Senato and Government. Ten Jewish moneylenders and eight leaders of the so-called Black Bourse, which allegedly carries out illegal deals in foreign currency, have been sent to a concentration camp.
