SECRETARY'S VISIT HOPES OF SETTLEMENT A development in the deadlock reached in the mining dispute at the Renown mine, which has affected all the mines in the Huntly district except Pukemiro. will be the arrival today of Mr. A. McLagen, of Grevmouth, secretary of the United Mine Workers' Union. Mr. "McLagan has requested Mr. T. Hall, secretary of the Northern Miners' Union, Huntly, to arrange meetings at Huntly thisi morning and throughout the district in the afternoon and evening, when he will address the miners. The result of the meetings will not be made known until to-night. The general hope is expressed among the miners that, as a result of Mr. MoLagan's visit, work will be resumed on Tuesday.
