THEFT OF STOCKINGS
LABOURER FINED £3 Pleading guilty to a charge of stealing a pair of ladies' stockings, valued at 3s lid, from a city store on Thursday, Hugh Thompson, labourer, aged 39, who appeared in the Police Court before Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., yesterday, said he was verv drunk at the time. Detective-Sergeant Nalder Raid accused's explanation was that he had gono to the shop to buy stockings for himself and had taken a woman's pair by mistake. He came under suspicion when he returned them later. Ho had not been in trouble before. Accused was fined £3.
