FRAUD ALLEGATIONS
TWO MEN REMANDED Two more men charged with obtaining money with intent to defraud by falsely representing that they were entitled to receive compensation for injuries received whilo working on vessels on the waterfront, apt>eared before Mr. 0. It. Orr Walker. S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. The accused were John Freeman, painter, aged 30, who was charged with obtaining £4 10s from the New Zealand Insurance Company, Limited, on December 24, by falsely representing that he was entitled to compensation for an injury received while working on the ship Gera on December 15; and Peter Freeman, french polisher, aged 21*, who was charged with obtaining £3 18s 3d from the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, Limited, on March 7, by falsely representing that he was entitled to compensation for an injury received while working on the lighter Planter on January 1. The accused were remanded until Thursday, bail being fixed at £SO, with a condition that they report daily to the police.
