1,000,000 VOLUNTEERS IF AIR RAID COMES BRITISH PRECAUTIONS MINISTER'S BROADCAST. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rewired March 15, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, March 15 In a broadcast address the Home Secretary* Sir Samuel Hoare, appealed for 1,000,000 volunteers willing to face danger if an air raid came, to assist the Government's plans for air raid protection. He said:
"Free men give better service than anything produced by authoritarian States. I do not share the view that an attack by air is irresistible."
