ADDITIONAL HIGHWAYS
HOBSON COUNTY'S REQUESTUNFAVOURABLE RECEPTION [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] DARGAVXLLE, Tuesday "The Main Highways Board has had ~ to say no to many requests from county councils for declaration of additional highways during the past three years," said the deputj'-chairman of the board, Mr. A. J. Baker, when indicating its policy to members of the." Hobson County Council during a visit to Dargaville. ' ' . The county chairman, Mr. V. Trounson, submitted requests for the claration of the Tangiteroria-Pukehira-"VVaiotira road and the Dargaville-Wai : ?oua Forest road, via Trounson Kauri ark, as main highways. "The board is certain that the present choice of the main highway north of Dargaville is the right one, and unless the reason for the change as a very pressing one I do not think, it would be disposed to make any alteration," said Mr. Baker. He added that there could be no possibility in.. the immediate future of the board's deviating from its general policy of refusing additional highways throughout the Dominion.
