ELECTRICITY SUPPLY

1 THAMES VALLEY BOARD PROBLEM OF REPRESENTATION [from ottb own correspondent] "WAIHI, Tuesday The Minister of Public Works, Hon. R. Semple, has informed Mr. J. Thorne, M.P., that after considering all the circumstances relating to this question of repres€ntatibn on the Thames Vs.llev Power Board, he was of the opinion that the most natural combination was that of Te Aroha and Thames. The interests of electricity consumers in these /two towns were somewhat similar in that each obtained supplies from the Borough Council, and not directly from the board. The new area in Waihi was c&.-tainly entitled to representation, but to increase the number of members on the board beyond 12 would require an amendment, to the Act, which he did not think was advisable. *He proposed, therefore, to proceed with the neces■ary action, to fix representation.
