TWO IN FEBRUARY

HARBOURMASTER'S REPORT

Records for the amount of shipping tonnage working the port of Auckland and for the amount of towage performed were established during the month of February, according to the report of the harbourmaster, Captain H. H. Sergeant, which was presented at the meeting of the Auckland Harbour .Hoard yesterday. Compared with those of February last year the returns for overseas merchant shipping showed an increase of 12 vessels, 103,263 gross tons and 66,004 net tons. The intercolonial vessels showed the same number of vessels, but an increase of 1210 gross tons and 736 net tons. A summary showed an increase of 13 vessels, 111,955 gross tons and 71,825 not tons. The gross tonnage of shipping arriving in the port during February totalled 518,201 tons, and comprised 28 British vessels, 30 coastal, 413 local coastal and 11 intercolonial.

The tug William C. Daldy assisted to berth or remove 67 merchant vessels, five naval vessels, three sailing vessels and one hulk. The To Awhina assisted 43 merchant vessels, four naval and three sailing vessels. The figures for the Manukau Harbour showed an increase of one vessel and 441 gross tons.
