RESIDENT OF DEVOMPORT many years in province A resident of Devonport for 40 years, Mrs. S. H. Hill celebrates her 9.'lrd birthday to-day at the home of her daughter, Mrs. It. H. Sheppard, of Upper Clarence Street, Devonport.

Mrs. Hill is a native of Wales. Before coming to New Zealand, she was a prominent member of the Independent Order of Good Templars, of which she wi!.s the secretary for tie whole of England for two years. Shortly after her arrival with her late husband and her children in Auckland in 1885, s'.ie went ivith them to .Whang,arei, where her husband became a well-known farmer. Since 1898 Mrs. Hill has lived at Devonport.
