USE OF IDLE LANDS PROPOSAL TO TOWN BOARD "Having in mind the existing house shortage in Papakura, I think the board might take advantage of the cheap money to develop lands at present lying idle," said Mr. H. E. McEntee, chairman of the Papakura Town Board, at its meeting last evening. Assuming that the houses could be built at about £9OO. the rent "to the tenant would be about 30s a week. Mr. McEnteo stressed the fact that to collect £ll a year for. rates off these idle sections for houses, was immeasurablybetter than allowing the sections to remain unoccupied. "Where would' you start?" asked Mr. D. Weir. j.-. The Chairman: I suggest the board'i property in Marne Road opposite the reserve would be a good place. It was decided to refer the matter to the incoming Borough Council.
