SUM OF m STOLEN RAILWAY STATION THEFT DISCOVERY AT ROTORUA [by telegraph—own correspondent 1 ROTORUA, Sunday A small safe at the Rotorua railway station was blown open between midnight and 9 a.m. to-day, and approximately £65 and a number of papers were removed in four small cash boxes. The robbery was discovered by the acting - station master. Mr. E. A. Cooper, when he went to the station about nine o'clock.

The safe was badly shattered by a charge of gelignite which had been placed in the keyhole. Entry to the office had apparently been gained through a window near the ticket office, a small pane of glass having been broken. The police were informed, and Detective-Sergeant J. Thompson and Detective A. White, of Hamilton, arrived later in the day. During the afternoon they found the missing cash boxes in a plantation some distance from the station. Everything of value had been removed.
