STKETTO GOES WELL TYBALT PERFORMS SOLIDLY SOUND EFFORT BY JACK TAR The honours of the work at Ellerslie on Saturday morning went to Stretto, who galloped brilliantly over six furlongs on the tan. Tybalt's effort over a round on the same track was also good, while on the No. 1 grass, with the poles out sft., Jack Tar and Ringshot were responsible for a sound performance over seven furlongs. Kilonsa was sent seven furlongs and was timed over the last six in 1.24 1-5. She moved freely and was never asked to do her best. Land Girl (Tremain) completed six furlongs comfortably in 1.21. Knight of Australia (Clark) bowled over half-a-mile in 51 l-ss.

Fleetwind (Gilchrist) finished in front of Palmint (Cammick) at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.20 4-5. They were not unduly bustled. Englishman finished the last three furlongs of his work in 395. He strode out well and should soon make amends for his recent defeats. Avail (Kerr) showed further improvement by defeating Master Appellant (Stokes) over four furlongs in 51 4-ss. The Romney—Thurnley gelding (Gilchrist), after taking 40 3-5s for the first three furlongs, completed six in 1.20 3-5. He shaped very promisingly. Tana Mahutu (Turvey), Billy Boy (Stokes) and Whirling Arch (Ci'addock) finished in that order at the end of a round, the last seven furlongs taking 1.44 1-5. Jack Tar (Green) and Ringshot (Clifford), after running the first two in 255, completed seven furlongs in 1.29. They finished on terms and it was a sound performance on the part of both.

Te Hai (Manson) was timed over the last three furlongs of his work in 40s. He did it easily and is in great order. Glen Abb (Coon) encompassed a round in 1.57, the last six furlongs taking 1.22 4-5. He had a little in hand at the finish.

lllimani (Cameron) finished well clear of Psychologist (Kerr) at the completion of a round in 1.56 2-5. Gay Broney (Trenrain) ran the last six furlongs of a round in 1.24 4-5. Cintrace (McTavish) displayed plenty of speed by beating Love Parade (Markwick) over three furlongs in 365. After taking 13 l-os for the first furlong, Sir Abb (Tremain) and Chief Emerald (Murray) finished together at the end of half a mile in 52 l-ss. They were going comfortably throughout. Mai de Mer (Murray) completed seven furlongs in 1.31 3-5, the first three in 39 4-os. After beginning slowly, Pasture (Tremain) got to the end of three furlongs in 36 3-ss. Alyth (Tremain) sprinted down the straight, but did not hit out too well on the hard going. White Foam (Gilchrist) finished several lengths in front of Haputale (Tonks) at the conclusion, of half a mile in 50 4-ss. White Foam has shown improvement recently. Ohmaha and Valmint Ohmaha (Gilchrist) and Valmint (Markwick) were companions over six furlongs in 1.18 4-5. Ohmaha led oyer the first three in 37 2-ss, but Valmint finished well to be in front on the post. On the tan, Stretto (Gre.en) was allotted six furlongs and, after running the first in 13 1-5, completed her task in 1.17 4-5, a good gallop. She pulled up extremely well. After going fast in the early stages, Roreatu (Gilchrist) was easing up at the end of six furlongs in 1.20 l-ss. He ran his first two in 255. Tybalt was responsible for a good workout over b. round, which he traversed in 1.51 1-5. He was kept up to his work throughout, but the effort showed him to be improved after his recent racing. Kelly (Gilchrist) worked strongly over a circuit, while Lady Defoe (Nesbitt) completed the last three furlongs of her work in 425. Billy Boy (Stokes) led Whirling Arch (Turvey) over four of the schooling hurdles'. Whirling Arch performed well for a novice. Tane Mahutu (Turvey) shaped satisfactorily over four pony hurdles. Tiverton (Olive) negotiated four hurdles in excellent style, and looks a very promising hurdler.
