PAPATOETOE SHOW. SOME FINE EXHIBITS A fine display of blooms was staged at the Papatoetoe Horticultural Society'b summer show in the Papatoetoe* Town Hall on Saturday. The cut flowers section was particularly fine, with many exhibitors. The Petrio Cup for most points in the section was won by Mrs. H. Peacocke and Miss Pago won the garden basket for the best table display in the novice section. The winner of the cup in the children's section was Clifton Eade. The show was declared open by Mrs. isobe! M. Cluett, the well-known v.ritcr, who complimented the society on its display. OUTSTANDING DAHLIAS TE AROHA PARISH SHOW The annual dahlia show held in the Te Aroha Parish Hall under the auspices of St. Mark's Horticultural Society was a distinct success, the array of blooms being exceptionally large, while the exhibits in point of merit ranked very high. The prize dahlias have never been exceeded in size and quality in the district. The champion dahlia was exhibited by Mrs. Worrall, the points prize was won by 31 rs. Palmer, with Mr. H. A. Bradley second. West Te Aroha defeated East To Aroha by a good margin for the St. Mark's Challenge Cup. WAITEMATA SOCIETY SECOND AUTUMN FIXTURE The second autumn show under the auspices of the Waitemata Horticultural Society, was held i.n the Victoria Hall at Birkenhead, and was opened by the Mayor of Birkenhead, Mr. E. J. Osborne, oil Saturday afternoon. The flowers and other exhibits wore attractively staged, and made a pleasing display. The cut flowers were of exceptional quality, there being a fine array of beautiful blooms. The champion bloom m the show was the giant decorative dahlia exhibited by Mrs. J. G. Hooton, of Albany. (For the highest aggregate points for dahlias, the Waitemata Cup was won by Mrs. James Prickett, of Birkenhead, in the opan competition. In the amateur competition the winner was Mrs. J. G. Hooton, of Albany. The trophy donated by Mr. F. S. Roper, of Green Lane, was awarded to Mrs. D. M. Lawson, of Birkenhead, for her exhibit of polyanthus roses. Tho judges were: —Messrs. R. Thornton (dahlias, cut flowers and native llowcrs), George Mills (fruit and vegetables'), Alfred Clist (decorative), and Mrs. R. Usher (home industries). DISPLAY AT WAIUKU FLOWERS AND FRUIT [from our own correspondent] WAIUKU, Saturday A very successful autumn show was held by the Waiuku Horticultural and Industrial Society in the Waiuku Town Hall. The entries were ahead of last year's. Tho show was officially opened by Mr. E. Allan, of Buckland, 0110 of New Zealand's veteran horticulturalists. The dahlia championship was awarded to a Jane Cowl informal decorative bloom exhibited by Mr. S. W. Low. Points prizes were won as follows: — Farm and garden produce, Mr. A. Wilde, 28 points; onions mid potatoes, Mr. J. Barriball, 27 points; fruit, Mr. R. J. Barriball, 11 points; dairy produce, Mr. N. Alcock, 10 points; dahlias, Mr. N. R. Gillman, 18 points; other cut flowers, Mr. N. R. Gillman, 15 points.
