She pulled up well and will; be given her final gallop this morning prior to her departure for Trentham on Monday night. Stretto will bo ridden by H. N. Wiggins. Gay Bronev, who looks improved after his recent racing, will return to the ranks of hurdlers 011 the second day at Paeroa. Gay Bronev, who schooled particularly well last week, showed good promise at the last Great Northern meeting, when ho ran second to Collision in the Penrose Hurdles. H. Jury intends leaving for Paeroa on Tuesday with Kilonsa and Land Girl. W. Fergus, with Ohmaha and Valmint, will also make the trip. Although she is not noted as a good track worker, Kilonsa's effort over six furlongs on Thursday morning was very pleasing and points to her having retained her recent form. Kilonsa, who is to contest the Ohinemuri Cup next Thursday, will be ridden by J?. W. McTavish and should be one of the favourites. Te Hai, who has lately been displaying good form on the track, is leaving to-day for Paeroa, where he is to fulfil i his engagements at tho Ohinemuri. Jockey Club's meeting. To Hai will be ; ridden by his trainer, E. Manson,. in : the St. Patrick's Handicap 011 the open- , ing day. Owing to leg trouble tho Hunting 1 Song gelding, School Song, has had to bo eased up. One of the most promising-looking two-year-olds at Ellerslie is tho Bronze 1 Eagle—Chief Emerald colt Bronze | Emerald, who will race in the ownership of Mr. W. Kemp. He has not been' hurried in his preparation, but will most likely be seen out at Kaster. In his few sprints to date he has moved very impressively and it will bo surprising if lie does not make a good 1 three-year-old. A newcomer to the tracks at Ellerslie is The Ace—Lady Cintra gelding, Cintrace, who is owned by Mr. E, H. Cuckse.v. Formerly trained at Te A wanuitu, Ointrace is a likely-looking novice and revealed some speed when galloped over half-a-mile last Thursday morning. WINNER BY ROYDON SUCCESS OF PASSENGER Passenger, who opened lu's winning account at Banks Peninsula last Saturday, was ono of the first Roy don horses to be raced, but in all ho has not had a great deal of it yet. He comes from a fashionable family in that his dam, First Class, also produced Society, who threw tho brilliant Talking to Magpie. First Class was purchased by Mr. J. R. McKenzie at the Flaxmere Stud dispersal in January, 1931, for 40 guineas. She was then in foal to Lord Quex, and the offspring, Disguise, was raced by Mr. McKenzie. The next product ion was Passenger, whom Mr. McKenzio is racing. In foal to Roydon, she was then sold to Mr. W. J. I)ovle. She produced Nuipni, who showed' a lot of promise at one time, but so far has failed to win a race.
