RISE IN BUTTER

NEW ZEALAND UP TO 119/LONDON MARKET FIRM LOWER PREMIUM ON DANISH The steady advance in the price of New Zealand butter on the London market within the last few weeks has been maintained, and choicest salted is now quoted at up to 119s per cwt., 011 a par with Australian. The current quotation represents a rise of 3s per cwt. during the week. The premium on Danish has been reduced to only 3s per cwt., and the market is reported to be lirm. The present price is the highest level reached since November of last .year, when values were declining after reaching a peak at 152s per cwt. at the end of October. Current quotations" .are now about 7s per cwt. above the London landed equivalent of the guaranteed price, and are also much higher than the values ruling at the same period Inst year, when the rate was !J7s per cwt. Cheese also has shown further improvement during the week. On a steady market New Zealand, white, is now from 6d to Is per cwt. dearer than last week. Similar movements also have taken place in the quotations for coloured. A Press Association message sent from London on Thursday states that the market for butter is firm.
