MOTHER WITH A PURPOSE The story of a woman v ho is so consumed with ambition for social success that she deliberately uses her daughter as a means to this end is told by Shirley Darbyshire in her new norel "'Give Me To-morrow." Alice Warren is the daughter of a tradesman and, when her marriage to a man of good family fails to bring her the social success she) desires, she decides to achieve her ambition through her daughter, Elizabeth. The girl is sent to a finishing school in Loudon and finally launched oujt in society, her season ending in a brilliant marriage. There is much more to the story than this bare outline, however, for Miss Darbyshire lias a remarkable nift for character portrayal arid Alice Warren, with her restless energy, and consuming ambition is a character who impresses even il sbo does not arouse admiration "Give Mc To-morrow," by Shirley Darbyshire.
