BLOCKS IN AUCKLAND TOTAL OF SIXTY OCCUPIED Government houses at Orakei are being let in steadily increasing numbers, and about 60 are now in occupation. It isi expected that by Easter a further 40 families will have been added to the settlement, which, when the present contracts are fulfilled, will comprise 297 houses. No houses in the other Auckland suburban groups have yet been occupied, but it is expected that some at Otahuhu will be let shortly and others in the Casey Estate, Ponsonby, within a few weeks. Two or three months will elapse before any of those at Point Chevalier, Devonport and Buckland Road, Epsom, become available. ELECTORATE PROPOSALS FOR 93 HOMES [BY TELKOIUPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Friday Developments in the Government's housing scheme are to bo carried out shortly in the Manukau electorate, according to advice received by Mr., A. G. 03borno, M.P. for the district, from Mr. J. A. Leo, Parliamentary UnderSecretary in charge of housing. The information supplied to Mr. Osborne is that tenders will shortly bo advertised for the erection of 77 single house units and eight two-house units in Great South Road, Garland Road, Campbell Road and William Ferguson and Massey Avenues. The schemes will bo divided into five different contracts.
