LIQUOR AT WEDDINGS

CHURCHES CRITICISED TOO MUCH MODERATE DRINKING [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT]! NAPIER, Thursday Criticism of the practice of consuming liquor at weddings "under the auspices of the churches" was voiced at a reception in Napier -to the Women's Christian Temperance Union Convention delegates by Mr. Flewellen King, representing tho Napier Temperance Union.

"The outlook to-day is not hopoful from the moral and spiritual point of view," said Mr. King. "There is stagnation everywhere from the standpoint of the temperance cause. "We want to take the churches up first. I am satisfied there is too much moderate drinking among church people. It is all very well blaming dances and people there who have drink with them, but there is too much liquor consumed at weddings under the auspices of the churches."
