AUTOMOBILE PATROLS PLAN IN COUNTRY AREAS The possibility of the country patrol cars ot the Automobile Association (Auckland) being equipped with twoway radio telephonic equipment is to be investigated by the service committee of the association. A decision to this effect was reached at a meeting of the council of the association. The council discussed the proposals of the Auckland Electric-Power Board, the St. John Ambulance Association and the police to equip vehicles with radio, ana agreed that the possibility of the association adopting a similar scheme for its country patrol cars should be investigated. The vice-president, Mr. A. A. Dignan, who presided, said a radio scheme for patrol. cars had been suggested some time ago. The association was alone at that time in its endeavours, and the scheme did not mature. He said that telephonic communication had been suspended, but the patrol sent in a report by an amateur radio transmitter.
