ARRIVAL IN AUCKLAND POWERFUL MODERN SEDAN ADDITION TO PATROL FLEET , A powerful standard sedan motorcar, to be added to the fleet of Auckland police patrol cars, arrived from Wellington by train yesterday. It is of 29 horse-power, with a six-cylinder engine, and is of the latest streamlined design. The car was taken to the Post and Telegraph workshops garage in Newmarket, where it will undergo a number of trials before being placed in commission. In addition it will be fitted with the xisual police patrol car equipment, including siren, spotlight and other fittings. It is estimated that the new car will reach the police garages •at the central station in Princes Street either to-day or to-morrow. The new car is in fulfilment of a- recent announcement made to the New Zealand Herald by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. D. J. Cummings, from Wellington, that he intended replacing three cars of the present Auckland fleet with modern vehicles in the near future. Mr. Cummings said that the other two cars would arrive during the next two or three months.
