BOYS' ESCAPADE
ABSCONDERS FROM HOME; RIDE ON STOLEN BIOYCLES NUMEROUS THEFTS EN ROUTE [bv telegraph —ovr.v correspondent] PALMERSTON. NORTH, Tuesday Absconding from an institution ill Wellington on Sunday two boys proceeded northward on stolei bicycles and committed jt series of thefts oil their way to Levin, where they weru apprehended by the police late last night. The boys, whose ages are. 14 and 32, commandeered two bicycles in. Wellington and removed a handbag from a car. Oil arriving at Otalsi they took a pair of bijiociilars fron a parked car. Levin was iheir nest stopping place, and they were respoisible for quite a number of theftn.' Four cars were ransacked and they removed a pair of motoriig glov<s and an overcoat, a tbftrmos flask, eal> ables, pipes and sundry other articleu, also a rifle. The police weire keeping a. vigilant look-out for the boys and, as fi r(!sult, they were arrested by Constable S. R. Hercock, who located them asleep under a hedge. Part of tie stolen property was recovered. , Tr® boys were returned to Wellington.
