MOTORISTS' RESPONSIBILITY COMMENT BY MAGISTRATE [BY 'TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] DUNEDIN, Tuesday The need for the exercise of scrupulous care by motorists driving through flocks of sheep was emphasised by Mr. J. It. Bartholomew, S.M., at a special sitting of the Magistrate's Court. James Robertson Stephen, of Mosgiel, drover, proceeded against W. L. Gray and Son, of Abbotsford, carters, alleging the negligent driving of a lorry through a mob of sheep and responsibility for the death of a sheepdog. Tho claim was for £lO, the value of the dog. After hearing the evidence the magistrate gave judgment for the plaintiff for the full amount claimed, with costs and expenses totalling £4 10s. The magistrate said that it was the duty of every motorist to exercise the greatest care when passing or driving through sheep.
