CAPTIVE OF NAZIS AUSTRALIAN'S CHARGES ALL TEETH KNOCKED OUT By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON, Feb. 27 The Paris correspondent of the Sunday Chronicle says Mr. George Rubin, who was born in Australia, being the son of a German doctor, dropped a letter addressed to Melbourne into a Berlin letter-box. The letter was unfavourable to the Nazis, and, therefore, the writer was arretted and sentenced in the People's Court to two years' imprisonment in a concentration camp. He his now been released, following the efforts of the British Consul, after being a prisoner for nine months. During the time he was a prisoner all his teeth were knocked out. He is now in Paris awaiting repatriation. He has practically no money for food. Mr. Rubin states, that 235 Protestant pastors in the camp where ho was a prisoner knelt each night to say their prayers amid the jeers of Nazi guards. NEWSPAPERS BANNED CRITICISM OF PRIESTHOOD STRONGLY-WORDED PASTORAL MUNICH, Feb. 27 In a Lenten Pastoral, which was read in Catholic Churches in Munich to-day, Cardinal Michel von Faulhaber, Archbishop of Munich, forbids Catholics to subscribe to or read all Nazi newspapers, or periodicals which publish matter deliberately calculated to bring the priesthood into disrepute. "Other attempts to undermine Christianity failed," says the pastoral, "so the Nazis started a mud-slinging campaign against the priests, although under the Vatican Concordat the priest's garb is entitled to the same-re-spect as the Army uniform." CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS GERMAN OPPOSITION Times Cablo LONDON, Feb. 27 Thj Berlin correspondent of tho Times says the days of the Christian Science Movement in Germany are apparently numbered. The Nazis havo begun expressing their disapproval of the Christian Science movement on medical, religious and political grounds, including those of pacifism.
