MAORI GULLY DREDGING [by telegraph—press association] GREYMOUTH, Monday The Maori GuUy dredge ou Thursday reached a high reef blocking the entrance to the Waimea Creek. It is expected that the dredge will get through into the creek at the end of next week. A wash-up will then take place. . The dredging of the creek is expected to provide work for a minimum of throe months and a maximum of s?i:c months. The claim will then be worked nut. After the company sank 16 scout bores at a cost oi. £370 on Cameron's option area prospecting was discontinued. The directors considers! the result* insufficient to warrant close boring. Other areas arc now under consideration. WELLINGTON ALLUVIALS DREDGE Wellington Alluvials, Ltd., reports that the dredge which is in operation on a claim on the Macquarie River (X.S.W.) is not yet in full production. It has been found necessary to make adjustments to adapt it to the local conditions. These adjustments are now in hand, and it will probably be some weeks before they are completed. Meanwhile, the dredge is approaching its tirst course on the alluvial lead. So far, it has handled only fohner dredge tailings and wash of low value. Gillespie's ("South Westland). — A temporary stoppage in the powerhouse delayed tha wash-up- on Friday. Dredging was resumed ~on Saturday night. ;•" •• V: Mataki ' (Murdiison).—3loz. from 8600 yards in 3JJ3 hours. Clutha (Otago).—For week ended Friday, 105riz. in. 100 hours. Since dredging commenced 71090z. have been won.
