DOGS DESTROYING SHEEP
Sir, —Being a heavy loser by dogs worrying sheep, kindly allow mo to make the following suggestions through your columns: —(1) That the Dog Registration Act bo amended in such a manner as to protect sheep owners, so that if the owner of a dog caught worrying sheep is unfinancial, and the borough has neglected to register the dog the borough can be held liable for the damage done. (2) That where the dog is registered the Borough Council be liable for half tlio cost of the damage done if the owner is unfinancial. The Borough Council is getting paid for such dogs, and the registration fee can be made to cover these expenses. (3) The enforcing of all dogs wearing their collars so that their owner can bo recognised. (4) That any unfinancial owner of a dog caught worrying sheep can bo charged under the protection of animals heading, in the Dog Registration Act, and so bo made responsible for cruelty to animals. These amendments will assist the fanners and should bo supported by them. A. J. Whiteside. Thames.
