INCREASED CAPACITY

KING'S WHARF STATION QUESTION OF THE COST A report on the preliminary discussions between representatives of J;he Auckland Electric-Power Board and Public Works Department concerning a possible increase in the capacity of the King's Wharf power-station, arising from the decision of the Auckland Harbour Board to reclaim further land opposite the power station, and the building of the new export wharf, was received at the meeting of the Power Board yesterday. The sum of £40,000 was taken for a basis of discussion, stated the report, and the point arose whether the Power Board should bear the whole cost of the project or whether the Government should contribute half of the required sum. Mr. F. T. M. Kissel, chief electrical engineer of the Public Works Department, had agreed in general terms with the latter scheme and promised to discuss the matter with the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. K. Semple, at ail early date, the report concluded. It was suggested that a further conference should be held. The report was adopted.
