NEW ZEALAND COMPETITORS PERFORMANCES IN SYDNEY (Received February 27, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 'J~ The inter-Dominion surf championships were held at Manly .yesterday in difficult surf. A seaward drag greatly handicapped the competitors. One New Zealander said the drag and sweep back from the beach were terrible. He had never known anything like the potholes into which he stepped. New South Wales won the championship and also retained both the special points trophies which were Competed for. New Zealand was third to Queensland and Western Australia in the march past. Dalton was second to Boast, Queensland, in the senior belt championship. The surf teams championship was won by New South Wales with Queensland second and. New Zealand (Evans, Symes. Williami- and Clark) third. In the surf championship Stokes was fourth to Walsh and Basingthwaighte, New South Wales, and Long, Queensland. All the beltmen except those of New Soutli Wales and Queensland failed to complete the course in the time limit in the 3 - escue and resuscitation championship event and were disqualified. The event was won by New South Wales.

The New Zealand team (Hughes. Pclham, Stephens and Williams) was fifth in the beach relay event, which was won by New South Wales, ancj unplaced in the beach sprint. Goldsmith failed to secure a place in the junior surf race, and Benson and Smith were unplaced in the surf race restricted to amateurs.
