SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL

ONEHUNGA CALEDONIANS The monthly social of the Oneliunga and District Caledonian Society attracted a large attendance of Scottish people to the Orphans' Hall on Saturday night. The chief, Mr. D. Hay, presided and welcomed the following guests, who were ceremoniously piped j n: —Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Worcn, of New Plymouth; Mr. F. Stephen, of the Otahuhu Caledonian Society; Mr. W. Spence and Mr. W. Kay. representing the New Lynn society; Mr. F A McKenzie, of the Waiheke society; Mr. R. Woolf, representing the Returned Soldiers' Association; Mr. W. G. Dunn, the Scottish Regimental Association of Auckland, and _Mr. A. A. Gurney, of the Wanganui Caledonian Society. •V variety of Scottish ballads was contributed by Mr. F. Laird and Miss H. Whvte, who were accompanied by Mrs. J 0. McLean Foursome reels, by Miss M. Lodder, Miss B. Balfe, Miss F. Sutherland and Miss G. Brackenridgo wore also enjoyed. During the evening pipers F. A. MeKenzie, J. Cowper, .7. Kennedy, W. Saul, M. W. McKellow and L. Amor played selections. The hall was gaily decorated with Scottish and floral emblems and a spirit of merriment and gaiety prevailed throughout. Slipper arrangements were "arricd out by the ladies' auxiliary committee under the supervision of Mrs. 1. Stewart.
