LIFE-SAVING AWARDS

RECIPIENTS AT BIRKENHEAD Six Birkenhead lads, Gordon T. Elliston, Stanley J. Dil, John W. Dowsing. Raymond E, Burgess, John Prickett, and Wilfred T. Dil, who had qualified in the intermediate grade, were each presented with a bronze medallion and certificate, awarded by the Royal Life-saving Socioty. on Saturday afternoon, during th-3 aquatic 6ports carnival at Biikenhead. In making the presentations, the Mayor of Birkenhead, Mr. E. J. Osborno, eoogratulated the recipients, and stated that the awards were granted for efficiency in practical knowledge of rescue, releasing oneself from tho clutch of the drowning person, and for ability to rendor aid in resuscitating the apparently drowned. The Auckland branch of tho Royal Lifesaving Society was represented by Mr. J. C. Henley, instructor.
