Old Surrey, Avho is engaged in, the Rangitikei Cup; ran a brilliant mile on tho plough, while on the course proper, 4.0 feet from the rails, Brazil and Sudan sprinted well. Ambition, who appears to be well forward, has developed into a very solid horse. Great Hope galloped freely over a round and ran home the last quarter in , 26 2-sa. Rolling Home ran half a mile, the last three furlongs in 39 3-us. Crooner and The Bluffer worked over five furlongs under a hold, coming homo the last half-mile in 54 3-ss. Royal. Limond and Tiger Bill completed their work over a round by coming home the last half-mile in 555. Both are begin-!, niug to assumo racing trim. Jubilee Song was not bustled to run eeveu furlongs in 1.37. i, y,--Old Surrey (Johnston) was quickly into his stride, running his first three furlongs in 37s and the first' six in 1.16 1-5, but he was stopping in the concluding stages of .tho mile, which took 1.44 2-5. Old Surrey is a difficult horse to restrain in the early part of his gallops, but if he were to settle down he would, have, to be seriously, considered for the Rangitikei ,Cup. Tiger Bill made no mistakes. i Silent Acre (C Thomson) gave a brilr liant display over a round of the schooling hurdles, taking every fence in lus stride.'The brother to'Manawatu is a natural jumper and should'make a'good : hurdler.
