FAREWELL RECITAL
AUCKLAND BASS-BARITONE A varied progrnmme was given Inst night at the farewell vocal recital at tho Town Hall concert chamber, by Mr. John Bond, youyg Auckland bassbaritone, who is to leave at the beginning of next month for London, where he will continue his studies. Mr. Bond, who will attend the lioyal College of Music, was the cup winner Inst year in the open vocal event at the Cambridge competitions. Mr. Bond's pleasing voice was heard in several numbers. He presented as his first song Gounod's "She Alone Charmeth My Sadness," and his other items were "Myself When Young" (Liza Lehmann), "When the Swallows Homeward Flv" (M. V. White), "The Windmill" (Nelson), "When the King Went Forth to War" (Koenenian) and "Sailormen" (Wolfe). Assisting artists were Miss Gwenda Weir, soprano, Mr. Vincent Aspe.v, violinist, Mr. Stewart Harvey, baritone, and Mr. Alan Pow, "pianist. Messrs. Walter Impett and Alan Pow were the accompanists.
