Horses could not be recognised, at more than 100 yards distance, and. it was not till after the interval that the pegs were clearly seen. The track most used was the No. 1 grass, on. which a number of local and visiting; horses did strong pace work. Just when the fog began to clear, Sergia (R. Glading) ran home five furlongs, the pace being on from the halfmile. The Lord Quex mare appears to be very well and should run a good race in the cup. Four members of L. G. Alorns Awapuni stable, The Buzzer, The Bigot, Royal Choice and Laughing Lass, who had arrived the previous afternoon, were worked at a good pace, without, time being required. H. Telford s P Sigurd and Debham, were also worked. Other visiting horses and the remainder of the local team worked on. the inside track.
