tTHE ROYAL SCHOOLS PRIZES SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES The following awards of medals and prizes have been made by the Associated Board of .tiie Iloyal Schools of Music, London, to candidates who sat !for examination in 1937: Licentiate Examinations, two prizes of £25 each, awarded to candidates gaining 'highest marks in each island. —Iv'orth Island: Colin It. Horsley (Miss V. R. Johnston, Wangauni), pianoforte. South Island: Peter D. Cooper (Mr. A. J. Bunz, .pianoforte. Gold and Silver Medals. —Grade VIII., gold medal: Jeanette Hoggans (the Dominican Nuns), violin. Grade VII., gold medal: Cecelia M. Lachlan (Mr. A. McLachlan, Hamilton), violin. Silver medal: Loretto CunninKhame (the Convent, Lower Hutt), pianoforte. The silver medal in grade VIII., »nd medals in grade VI., were not awarded As no candidates qualified to receive them. Prizes for Grades VI., VII. and VIII. — £lO to the candidate under 38 years showing exceptional musical promise: Una U. Mateer (thu Convent, Hamilton), grade VI., •inginsr. £ls under similar conditions: Cecelia M. McLachlan (Mr. A. McLachlan, Hamilton), srrade VII. violin. £lO and free entry tor the licentiate, to the candidate gaining highest marks in grade VIII.: Jeanette Hostßans (the Dominican Nuns. Dunedin), tiolin. Free entries for the licentiate to three candidates gaining the next highest marks in srradc VIII.: Winifred L. Anderion (Mr. H. Ellwood. Christchurch), violin; Douglas W. A. Zander (Miss B. Bollard, Christchurch), pianoforte; E. Shirley y ral K '(Miss A. Partridge, Wellington), pianoforte.
