•ELECTION OF CANDIDATES WAIKATO ELECTORATE [from our own correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday Three nominations have been received for the candidate to contest the Waikato electorate in the interests of the National Party. They are Messrs. W. S. Goosman (Morrinsville), A. W. Grant (Te Aroha) and F. Lye (Cambridge). At a meeting hist night, attended by over 200 delegates, it was decided that the Selection committee will meet in Cambridge on Tuesday, March 10, to make the final choice of a candidate. GROUNDS AS INDEPENDENT [by telegraph—own correspondent] WHANG AREI, Wednesday In view of a unanimous invitation by a meeting of electors at Ohaeawai, representative of practically all districts'in the Bay of Islands electorate, Mr. \Y. Grounds, former chairman of the Now Zealand Dairy Control Board and" of the North Auckland Dairy Conference, has agreed to accept nomination as an Independent candidate at the next general election. Wednesday The National Party candidate for the Otaki electorate, was selected last night at a meeting of the party's branch delegates. Mr. Win ley withdrew before the selection was made and the result of the ballot was that Mr. Monk was selected is the candidate for the district.
