•ELECTION OF CANDIDATES WAIKATO ELECTORATE [from our own correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday Three nominations have been received for the candidate to contest the Waikato electorate in the interests of the National Party. They are Messrs. W. S. Goosman (Morrinsville), A. W. Grant (Te Aroha) and F. Lye (Cambridge). At a meeting hist night, attended by over 200 delegates, it was decided that the Selection committee will meet in Cambridge on Tuesday, March 10, to make the final choice of a candidate. It was reported by the secretary, Mr. A. 15. Hill, that there are now 2811 members of the National Party in~tho , .Waikato electorate. WAIMARINO SEAT REQUEST TO MM. LANG STONE [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] TAUMARUNUI, Wednesday The Labour Representation Committee of Taumarimui unanimously decided to telegraph the Hon. F. Langstone asking him to again stand tor Wainiarino as the Labour candidate at the general election. Mr. Langs tone replied accepting nomination. BAY OF ISLANDS CONTEST MB. GROUNDS AS INDEPENDENT [by telegraph—own correspondent] WHANG AREI, Wednesday In view of a unanimous invitation by a meeting of electors at Ohaeawai, representative of practically all districts'in the Bay of Islands electorate, Mr. \Y. Grounds, former chairman of the Now Zealand Dairy Control Board and" of the North Auckland Dairy Conference, has agreed to accept nomination as an Independent candidate at the next general election. Mr. Grounds contested the Kaipara scat as an Independent at the last election. OTAKI CANDIDATE NATIONAL PARTY'S CHOICE [bt TELEGRAPH —OWN COHHKSPONDKNT] WELLINGTON. Wednesday The National Party candidate for the Otaki electorate, was selected last night at a meeting of the party's branch delegates. There were 88 delegates present, and Mr John B;irelay was in the chair. The three nominees were Messrs. h. Winlev F. I*]. Trim and G. A. Monk. Mr. Win ley withdrew before the selection was made and the result of the ballot was that Mr. Monk was selected is the candidate for the district.
