SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
WELLINGTON GIRLS' COLLEGE MISS E. M. NORTH APPOINTED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON, Wednesday The appointment is announced of Miss E. M. North as principal of the Wellington Girls' College in succession to Miss V. M. Greig. She is a former pupil of the college and was chosen from 13 applicants. Miss North graduated B.A. at Vie-, toria College and in 1921 was awarded one of the university passages to Europe to enable her to do post-gradu-ate work in overseas countries, and she greatly added to her experience in schools in Britain and on the Continent. She spent two years at the Sorbonne, Paris. On her return to New Zealand she joined the staff of the Wellington College and afterward went to the Wellington East Girls' Coliege. In 1927 she was on the staff of the Ascham Girls' College, Sydney, and later was at the Girls' High School, New Plymouth, Girls' College, Wanganui, and Girls' College, Nelson. Miss North was again in Europe in 1931, and was for a time in 1932 first assistant at the Girls' High School, Palmerston North. Since then she has been senior French mistress at Wellington East. She is vice-president of the National Federation of University Women and president in Wellington of the National Council of Women.
