PARENTS' TRUCK USED
THREE CHARGES AGAINST SON SUSPENDED SENTENCE IMPOSED [by telegbaph—OWN correspondent] "WHANGAREI, Wednesday Three charges arising from the use of a motor-truck while his parents were away from home wer? preferred against Robert John Mann when he appeared before Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. Evidence was given that when accused's parents went for a holiday they left him in charge of their home and also a motor-truck, with instructions that the truck was not to be used. On their return they found the truck had run 374 miles during their absence and that somo of the furnishings of their home were missing. It was discovered that accused had used the truck, and to pay for the benzine had sold the furnishings to a second-hand dealer. On a charge of unlawful conversion of the truck accused was ordered to come up for sentence if called on within six months. He was fined £2 on a charge of stealing the furnishings and ordered to refund the cost, and for driving without a licence was fined £2 and costs.
